About Us

Hello! I’m Mia Collins, a 30-year-old financial manager living and working in the dynamic city of Chongqing, China. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, I moved to Chongqing nearly four years ago, drawn by its vibrant culture, rapid development, and the chance to immerse myself in a city that perfectly blends tradition and modernity. Since arriving, Chongqing has become much more than just a work location — it’s a place that constantly feeds my curiosity, fuels my passion for travel, and inspires me to embrace life fully.

My career in financial management has been both challenging and deeply rewarding. I work for a multinational corporation, overseeing budgeting, financial analysis, and risk management. Numbers and strategy have always fascinated me, but what I find most exciting is how finance intersects with people and places. Every financial decision influences not just business outcomes but the lives of employees, communities, and the environment. This awareness has shaped how I approach my work — thoughtfully, ethically, and with a broad perspective.

What truly makes my life in Chongqing special is how the city serves as a gateway to some of China’s most breathtaking natural and cultural treasures. Living here means that the spectacular landscapes of the Yangtze River, the dramatic karst mountains, and ancient towns like Ciqikou are never far away. For me, travel isn’t simply about ticking off famous landmarks; it’s about engaging deeply with the essence of a place — its history, its people, and its rhythms.

I have developed a unique travel philosophy that parallels my professional mindset — I prefer immersive, mindful journeys over hurried sightseeing. On weekends or holidays, you’ll often find me exploring quiet mountain trails around Wulong or wandering the narrow alleys of Dazu Rock Carvings, absorbing not only the scenery but the stories embedded in every stone and path. I’m fascinated by how geography shapes culture, and how communities adapt to their environment over time.

Hiking along the ridges overlooking the Yangtze or cruising through the Three Gorges area has taught me to appreciate the fluidity of both nature and finance. Just as water carves new paths yet follows enduring currents, financial markets ebb and flow, influenced by countless visible and invisible forces. This analogy enriches my travels, making every trip a chance to learn and reflect.

Cuisine is an indispensable part of my travel experience in Chongqing. Known for its fiery, bold flavors, Chongqing’s food culture is a celebration of warmth and community. I’m an enthusiastic fan of hotpot — sharing a bubbling pot of spicy broth with friends after a day of hiking feels like a ritual that connects body and soul. Exploring local markets and street stalls also offers a flavorful window into daily life and tradition, deepening my connection with the city and its people.

Chongqing’s lifestyle is a dance of contrasts — fast-paced yet relaxed, urban yet close to nature. People here work hard but savor moments of joy, whether that’s sipping tea on a riverside terrace, gathering for karaoke nights, or strolling beneath lantern-lit streets. I’ve learned to embrace this balance, making space for both career ambition and personal well-being.

One of my most memorable trips was a solo journey to the lesser-known areas around Fengdu Ghost City. The hauntingly beautiful temples and myths woven into the landscape challenged me to reflect on how history and legend shape identity and place. It’s these kinds of off-the-beaten-path experiences that fuel my passion for travel — journeys that reveal layers of meaning beyond the obvious.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to explore even more of Chongqing’s surroundings and neighboring provinces like Guizhou and Sichuan. Professionally, I hope to integrate my travel insights into fostering sustainable financial practices that respect local communities and environments. I believe that understanding place deeply enriches how we do business and live our lives.

I’m Mia Collins — a finance professional, adventurer, and lifelong learner. Living in Chongqing has given me the privilege to grow in my career while feeding my soul with discovery. Every path I take, whether through bustling city streets or tranquil mountain trails, teaches me about balance, resilience, and connection.
